This stretch of coastline is blessed with 315 days of sunshine and an average temperature of 17 degrees. The World Health Organisation states that Murcia is the healthiest province of Europe. People with rheumatism or breathing related illnesses have fewer problems. The 250 km. coast of the Costa Cálida is not yet full of tourists and still has a real Spanish atmosphere. If you are a lover of water sports there are many activities around the area, and the scuba diver will find one of the most beautiful underwater areas of the Mediterranean. The cities of Murcia; Cartagena; Lorca; Almeria etc. are a paradise for people who like shopping, but also lovers of culture and historic buildings. The sparsely populated and open natural areas lend themselves to walking, bird watching, mountain biking, quad biking etc. There are the protected nature reserves of the Sierra Espuña and Sierra María with beautiful flora and fauna.
